The project’s creator posted on Discord about their decision to cancel it, citing personal well-being and the challenges facing their small team. Describing the mod as “my passion, my obsession,” they conveyed the overwhelming nature of the workload, the small size of their team, and the insurmountable financial and personal costs involved. Despite the dedication put into the project, the pressures took their toll.

The cancellation doesn’t seem likely to lead to someone else picking up the reins anytime soon, especially given its indefinite hold since June 2024. While things appeared to be looking up more recently, it now seems this ambitious project won’t see completion. However, on the video game front, Bethesda has remained tight-lipped about any new mainline installment since Fallout 4 in 2015. Some speculate that the next Fallout could even tie back to New Vegas, hinting at intriguing possibilities for the future.
