John Gonzalez, the creative mind behind the narrative of Fallout: New Vegas, has made his way back to Obsidian. Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Gonzalez clarified that while he is thrilled to be back, he isn’t jumping into a project for Fallout: New Vegas 2 just yet. Gonzalez originally joined Obsidian in 2008 and stayed until 2011, after previously honing his skills at Ubisoft in Shanghai for over two years.
After his stint with the developers of New Vegas, Gonzalez moved on to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. There, he dedicated two and a half years as the lead narrative designer on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. His career path then led him to the Netherlands with Guerrilla Games, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the story for Horizon: Zero Dawn as the narrative director. Following that, he spent nearly three years at Smilegate in their Barcelona studio.
In addition to his impressive work in game development, Gonzalez is also venturing into the literary world. He is set to publish a novel titled “God Mode: Single Player,” which is expected to hit the shelves in 2025.
