Recently, the indie games newsletter known as Pantaloon entered the publishing arena with a fresh new label. Currently, they have two unique titles on their roster: a narrative-driven experience called Sub-Verge and a Solitaire-based project named Occlude. Pantaloon originally made a name for itself as a valuable newsletter and resource for indie game developers, amassing nearly 30,000 subscribers along the way.
Founder Jamin Smith acknowledged, “It might seem like the world isn’t exactly in dire need of yet another indie publisher,” but he went on to explain, “We’re approaching this from a different angle. We’ve already built a platform for awareness, and now we want to offer development partners terms that truly empower them, terms that introduce a sense of agency and security. Our mission involves embracing risk by seeking out quirky, experimental games—those unafraid to venture into untamed or tricky genre waters.”
He elaborated, “‘A home for misfits’ isn’t merely a catchy slogan for us; it’s a rallying cry for those games that find themselves outside the scope of traditional publishing norms.”
On a side note, Alex Calvin, a freelance writer and photographer, has collaborated with Pantaloon in the past.
