Treyarch has just unveiled the exciting new addition to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode—the "Shattered Veil" map. Players can now look forward to diving into the action-packed world of zombies sooner than expected.
Initially scheduled for a later release, the Season 3 content update for Black Ops 6, covering both multiplayer and Zombies modes, will now launch on April 2. However, those eagerly anticipating Verdansk’s return in Call of Duty: Warzone will need to wait until April 3.
The latest map enhances the ongoing Dark Aether storyline central to Black Ops 6’s Zombies experience. Following the crew’s acquisition of the Sentinel Artifact, they find themselves in an eerie old mansion nestled within the secluded, wooded hills of West Virginia, near Liberty Falls. This location is thought to be the same mansion featured in the original Liberty Falls cinematic.
Players will encounter new features such as microwave traps that pulverize zombies and a Dark Aether Field Generator, capable of eradicating zombies using a field of dark aether energy. Just be cautious not to trap yourself!
The mansion, adorned with a full T-Rex skeleton, is only one aspect of what Season 3 has in store for Zombies fans.
You’ll come face to face with new adversaries, including the Elder Disciple, a floating entity that empowers the undead horde and can metamorphose ordinary zombies into formidable foes like Doppelghasts. Accompanying the Elder Disciple are toxic zombies, creatures that rush at players with explosive ferocity, leaving hazardous acid puddles in their wake.
Adding to the excitement, the popular Double Tap perk-a-cola is making a triumphant return. Originally seen in Black Ops 3, this perk, available via the Der Wunderfizz machine, is back with a slate of upgrades, including:
Major Augments:
- Double Jeopardy: A chance to instantly eliminate low-health zombies.
- Double Impact: Quickly repeating hits inflict more damage.
- Double Standard: Non-critical hits deal double damage when using standard bullets.
Minor Augments:
- Double Time: Buffs the fire rate increase.
- Double or Nothing: Weapons have a chance for double damage or none at all.
- Double Play: Defeating two enemies rapidly may replenish your magazine by two rounds.
Also making an appearance are two fresh wonder weapons and their variations. The Ray Gun Mark II offers a new spin on the classic weapon, with burst fire and new variants that add SMG-like patterns and possible explosive effects. The Wunderwaffe DG-2 returns, bringing chain-lightning attacks that can stun and damage groups of zombies.
As for strategic advantages, the game introduces three new Gobblegums, usable across all maps, enhancing gameplay in different ways:
- Tactical Diffusion (Rare): Cancels the next Nuke Power-Up in favor of a significant Essence boost.
- Support Group (Legendary): Provides powerful support items like the ARC-XD, Mangler Cannon, Sentry Gun, and Mutant Injection.
- Die Pitched (Whimsical): Elevates zombie voices with a humorous pitch change for three minutes.
Moreover, the beloved Death Machine scorestreak is back and can be crafted in Zombies for a modest salvage cost of 1750.
For those wanting to delve deeper into the Dark Aether arc, stay tuned for the midseason refresh. This update will unveil Directed Mode for Shattered Veil, alongside a limited-time Team Cranked mode and a new Frost Blast field upgrade.
Currently available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through Steam, Battle.net, the Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 invites players to join the chaos. A free trial kicks off on all platforms starting April 2 at 9 AM PT, which includes Zombies content from Season 2. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can jump into the action right away, ensuring no one misses out on the undead mayhem.
