Feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the chatter about Dune Awakening without actually getting your hands on it? Well, the wait is almost over! You’ll soon have the chance to dive into the game during a free open beta weekend from May 9 to May 12.
To join in, you can either wishlist the game before May 9 for a shot at playing, or snag one of the “thousands” of beta codes the team will be handing out over the weekend. It’s open, but there’s a bit of a catch—access is limited to those lucky enough to score an invite. Think of it as a semi-open beta, with the door left slightly ajar for eager fans.
Interestingly, this beta kicks off just days before the game’s original May 15 release date, which was delayed to give Funcom some extra time to fine-tune everything for the big launch.
During the beta, players will have the chance to explore the first two regions, offering up about 20 hours of gameplay. You’ll get a taste of some Research Facilities, test out early abilities for different classes, and dabble in a bit of PvP at ship crash sites. It’s the perfect way to get a feel for what’s to come. If you’re curious about our take, we’ve just released a new preview today that delves into this very slice of Dune Awakening.
