Bungie just gave us an exciting glimpse into their new extraction shooter, Marathon, revealing some tantalizing gameplay details. Mark your calendars because Marathon is set to make its debut on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on September 23, 2025.
In this game, you’ll step into the shoes of a Runner, essentially cybernetic mercenaries equipped with unique abilities. You’ll team up with up to two other players to tackle dangerous AI security forces and rival Runner teams. Along your journey, you’ll gather weapons, implants, and equipment. If you and your team manage to make it out alive, everything you collect is yours to keep for future battles.
Imagine diving into a zone with your team of three, where looting as much as you can while staying alive is the main mission. You’ll face AI foes and competing teams, all of which you’ll need to outsmart or overpower. There’s an extra thrill for those who dare to go solo, challenging themselves to defeat entire teams and snag all the loot on their own.
