Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is proving to be a big hit, having sold over a million copies within just one day of its release. Developed by Warhorse Studios, the game launched on February 4 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC to a wave of positive feedback.
Transporting players back to the 15th-century Kingdom of Bohemia, this sequel continues the saga of Henry, the central character from the first game. Like its predecessor released in 2018 and adapted for the Switch in March 2024, this open-world action RPG captures the essence of the Renaissance era with meticulous attention to historical detail. Featuring figures from real history, the game received critical acclaim, currently boasting an average score of 89 on OpenCritic. Coupled with these strong reviews are impressive sales numbers.
Warhorse Studios took to Twitter to share that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 quickly gathered “over a million” players within 24 hours of its debut. By contrast, the original game took nine days to reach similar figures, amid a more mixed reception. So, the sequel is not only outshining the original in reviews but also in sales performance, which is notable given that the Deep Silver-published game isn’t available on the PlayStation Store in Saudi Arabia, despite there being no ban as per the co-founder of Warhorse Studios.
Delving into current performance, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is excelling with player engagement. It reached a peak of 168,936 concurrent players on Steam, surpassing the original’s peak of 96,069. Additionally, it’s ranked 12th among top PlayStation games in the US on the PS Store, suggesting a significant player base, including Xbox users.
As players immerse themselves in the vivid world of Bohemia, Warhorse Studios is actively working on the game’s future. In January 2025, they announced plans for several DLCs and other free content post-launch, ensuring that players will have plenty to look forward to as they continue their medieval adventures.
