Funcom, the developer behind “Dune: Awakening,” has decided to push back the game’s release by a month, moving from May 15th to June 10th. This change comes after gathering feedback from players participating in their closed beta tests. The announcement was made in a blog post on their official website.
In “Dune: Awakening,” players are set to fight for control of the desert planet Arrakis. It’s an interesting twist within the universe’s timeline, as it imagines a scenario where Paul Atreides, a central figure in the original stories, is absent and therefore doesn’t wreak havoc across the empire.
Funcom expressed its appreciation for the crucial insights they’ve received from beta testers, which have been pivotal in refining the game. “The feedback we’ve been collecting from beta testers has been invaluable in making sure we can launch a quality game,” the developers mentioned in their statement.
They’ve been actively engaging with the community through Discord, allowing developers to communicate directly with players. This interaction has been a key part in collaborating to enhance the game. The company stated, “Thanks to this process, we’ve concluded that with a bit more time to cook, we can act on a lot more of the feedback we know is important to our beta testers.”
Acknowledging the anticipation that surrounds the game’s release, Funcom emphasized that delaying the launch wasn’t a choice made lightly. They explained that the additional three weeks will provide the necessary time to implement crucial improvements, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience right from the start.
Moreover, Funcom is looking forward to hosting a large-scale beta weekend next month, which will allow more players to jump into the game and offer their feedback. Details regarding this event will be shared soon, as the company expressed its enthusiasm for expanding player involvement and refining “Dune: Awakening” even further.
