This Monday brought a delightful surprise for fans of Control’s Ultimate Edition, as a fresh update breathed new life into the game a full five years after its initial release. Among the most intriguing additions is a special appearance by Hideo Kojima, the creative force behind Death Stranding. In this update, Kojima takes on the role of Dr. Yoshimi Tokui, and players can dive into the mission by locating the Dr. Tokui Tapes collectible in the Extrasensory Lab within the Research Sector. According to Vida Starcevic, Remedy Entertainment’s community manager, this mission had previously been exclusive to players who owned the Digital Deluxe edition on PlayStation 4.
Beyond Kojima’s cameo, the update introduces three stylish new outfits, which were once only accessible as preorder bonuses. Players will also notice enhancements in graphics and DLSS technology, coupled with a host of bug fixes. One notable improvement addresses audio mixing issues identified in some cinematic sequences and during the end credits. Acknowledging the oversight with humor, Starcevic quipped, “It wasn’t the Hiss, it was us. Sorry.”
Currently, the update is exclusive to PC gamers. However, Remedy Entertainment has assured fans that they plan to roll it out for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users in the near future.
