A serious bug in Indiana Jones and the Last Circle is causing headaches for players trying to beat the game and achieve the Great Circle accolades. It’s been just over six weeks since MachineGames launched this amazing action-adventure on Xbox, but there’s a major hiccup that’s still putting a stop to players’ progress.
Players have been running into a show-stopping bug in the Blessed Pearl mission of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. The issue prevents our hero from climbing ladders, scaling vines, or squeezing through narrow gaps. MachineGames is aware of the problem, but for many players, this bug has turned an otherwise brilliant game into a frustrating experience. Personally, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was one of my favorite releases last year, but thanks to a glitch in The Blessed Pearl level on Sukhothai, I’ve hit a wall, and it seems I’m not alone.
This bizarre bug has our favorite archaeologist unable to tackle basic actions like blocking, climbing, or squeezing through tight spots. It’s particularly pesky because it only happens in the Sukhothai section, precisely when Indiana needs to shimmy through a narrow passage in a cave. This segmented part of the mission isolates you from the broader game world, trapping you in that area. Even though you can fast travel to other locations, the bug latches on, and Indy is still stuck, unable to climb or crawl through gaps.
The frustration of this bug is palpable, and I’ve had to step back from the game until MachineGames releases a fix. Although the developers provide an option to rollback your progress to an earlier save, it’s far from a perfect solution. In my case, two of my three saves are affected, and reverting to the third one would mean saying goodbye to countless hours spent gathering collectibles, especially those in the labyrinth beneath Vatican City.
Over on Reddit, there’s chatter that MachineGames has pinpointed the issue, tying it to a character named Sunan and a side quest called Lost in the Past. The glitch appears when you return a golden hook to Sunan, yet miss the subtle prompt for a final chat. If you have this last conversation, Indy retains all his abilities. Miss it, and you’re likely to find yourself stuck.
If you’re lucky enough to have a save that lets you revisit Sunan and properly complete Lost in the Past, you might dodge this bullet. If you’re like me, though, and every available save means sacrificing hours of achievements and progress, you’re in a bind until a patch arrives.
Aside from this bug, there’s a laundry list of other issues players are facing, including problems with radio frequencies, the cog wheel puzzle, and missing collectibles. While the holiday season might have delayed MachineGames’ response, it’s high time they roll out an update so we can dive back into this thrilling adventure.
