Acer has just unveiled an impressive suite of six new graphics cards under the Radeon RX 9070 series, featuring variations with base and OC models boasting boost clocks as high as 3.1 GHz.
In an exciting move, AMD’s partner, Acer, has just rolled out a fresh suite of RDNA 4 GPUs, introducing the captivating BiFrost and Nitro editions. While Acer has dabbled in AMD card production for some time, it hasn’t always been at the forefront like other key AMD partners. This latest venture sees the introduction of six models, split into two groups of three.
Included in this lineup are two editions for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 – one Nitro and one BiFrost for each. The BiFrost models sting with Acer’s top-notch aesthetics and are fitted with a cooling system designed to impress, while the Nitro series targets the mainstream sector without skimping on strong specifications.
Starting with the BiFrost, Acer’s BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB is decked out with a striking triple-fan cooling system adorned with a sleek shroud and stylish silver accents around the fan in the middle. The cooling system uses Acer’s FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans coupled with a clever counter-spin design for optimal heat management. Measuring about 295 mm in length and occupying 2.5 slots, the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC is fine-tuned for a top-tier gaming experience with factory overclocking reaching up to 3.1 GHz.
Similarly styled, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB offers a close design match, but features two 8-pin power connectors, instead of the three found on the XT version. Interestingly, both models have a 340W power rating, despite the RX 9070 typically consuming considerably less energy by default. Technically, with its two 8-pin connectors plus the PCI-E x16 slot, it can support 340W, though it offers less leeway for overclocking compared to the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.
Transitioning to the Acer Nitro series, we see the introduction of both OC and non-OC models for each RX 9070 card. The Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC mirrors the BiFrost in having a triple-fan configuration, features a boost clock of up to 3.1 GHz, measures as a 2.5-slot, and matches the BiFrost in length. It draws power from three 8-pin connectors, delivering 340W of thermal design power. By contrast, the standard Nitro RX 9070 XT holds steady at 304W despite the same power connectivity. As a non-OC model, it peaks at a boost of 2970 MHz and runs up to 2.4 GHz in game mode.
The final pair in the series, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB, deliver impressive clock speeds up to 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC version is rated at 245W, while the non-OC iteration holds a 220W rating, yet both share a similarly sleek design.
Though Acer has yet to disclose the entire pricing bracket, they have priced the Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB at a formidable $829.99 USD. Expect the BiFrost to carry a heftier price tag. Availability details are still under wraps, but Acer has announced the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC will hit the U.S. market in April.
