Minisforum recently showcased its upcoming line of cutting-edge AMD Ryzen-powered devices, including a new MoTD board and a Mini PC equipped with the Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU.
Two Exciting Offerings from Minisforum: Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" in MoTD & Mini PC
At the "Japan IT Spring Week," Minisforum unveiled a fresh array of products designed around AMD Ryzen processors. Among the innovations on display were MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, Mini PCs, and NAS systems.
Meet the Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard: A Game-Changer for Desktop Builders
First up is the Minisforum "F1FGM," a standout addition to their MoTD series, now equipped with the latest CPU technology. This mATX design motherboard is thoughtfully crafted with heatsinks positioned strategically across the VRMs, M.2 slots, PCH, and even features an IO cover. It follows in the footsteps of the BD770i and BD790i series, known for their Dragon Range "Ryzen 7000HX" CPUs, and now introduces the cutting-edge Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" series CPUs.
This MoTD can be configured with the impressive AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, which boasts 16 cores and 32 threads on the Zen 5 core architecture. The chip runs with a formidable boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz and includes 64 MB of L3 cache. Rated at 55W by default, it can be pushed to an impressive 160W on this motherboard, delivering a high-performance desktop experience.
Additionally, users can opt for other CPUs, including an "X3D" variant. Cooling is efficiently managed with a cooler mounted on a vapor chamber baseplate, as these mobile CPUs lack an IHS. The motherboard features a 13-phase Duet rail VRM design with 60A SPS power stages for robust performance.
As for the specs, the board supports four DDR5 DIMM slots in a UDIMM design, allowing for up to 256 GB capacity and impressive speeds reaching up to 8000. The motherboard is built on the X870M chipset, a mobile-grade design similar to the B850 series. It includes two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots, one of which supports Gen5x4 speeds. Also included are two SATA III ports and modern IO options like USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WIFI7, complete with two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
Introducing the Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC: Compact Power with Fire Range CPUs
The MS-A2 Mini PC is another key highlight, featuring AMD Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs. This model builds on the foundation set by the MS-A1 series, which ran on Ryzen 8000G CPUs. With Fire Range CPUs, these compact PCs bring the latest IO options to the table, including three M.2 slots (with one supporting U.2), a 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot for a low-profile card.
Differing from the MoTD, this Mini PC’s motherboard offers two SO-DIMM slots providing up to 96 GB capacity at speeds of 5200 MT/s. Connectivity includes 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2, a USB 2.0, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and DP+HDMI outputs.
Unleashing Power with the Minisforum N5 PRO NAS System
Lastly, the "N5 PRO" NAS system emerges, powered by the Strix-based AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, featuring 12 cores, 24 threads, and a Radeon 890M iGPU. This NAS boasts five 3.5-inch drive bays that accommodate RAID configurations and sport a toolless design, simplifying drive installation and removal. The system supports up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs and comes with one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.
Each bay can handle up to 22 TB of HDD space, and the NAS includes three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). Connectivity is further enhanced with a 10 GbE and 5 GbE Ethernet port, complemented by three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum plans to release these innovative products in the coming months. Keep an eye out for more updates as the launch approaches.
