It seems that the launch of the GeForce RTX 5060 series graphics cards has encountered some unexpected delays. While the RTX 5060 Ti is now reported to debut in April, the RTX 5060 will follow a month later.
Originally slated for a March unveiling and an April release, whispers about these delays have been circulating just as the GeForce RTX 5070 was gearing up for its own launch. Though the reasons behind this shift aren’t crystal clear, NVIDIA’s board partners have received official notification of the postponement, according to Board Channels. While NVIDIA hasn’t confirmed any specific release details for the 5060 series, the information seems quite credible, especially considering previous chatter about potential bugs and supply hiccups.
An internal note sent to AIC partners laid out the timeline changes: the RTX 5060 Ti, along with its 16G and 8G versions, is now expected in mid-April, while the broader RTX 5060 family should hit in mid-May. Exact launch days are still up in the air, awaiting further instructions from NVIDIA.
Interestingly, this delay might line up the RTX 5060 series unveiling with AMD’s RX 9060 series debut. The latter, including the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 models in both 8 GB and 16 GB variants, positions itself as a direct competitor to NVIDIA’s upcoming offerings. As rumors have it, AMD’s cards are also eyeing a release in the second quarter.
As for the specs, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is poised to be a formidable successor to the RTX 4060 Ti, boasting 4608 CUDA cores, either 8 or 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a power draw of about 180W. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 will step up from the RTX 4060 with 3840 CUDA cores, 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a 150W TDP. There’s been some buzz about a 12 GB VRAM version of the RTX 5060 emerging from the rumor mill, hinting at an edge over the RX 9060, which, for now, appears to offer only an 8 GB variant.
Stay tuned, as this unfolding competition between NVIDIA and AMD promises an exciting time for gamers and PC enthusiasts alike.
