There’s a new chapter in the Silent Hill franchise on the horizon, and judging by the chilling reveal trailer for Silent Hill f (be sure to note the lowercase ‘f’), this entry might just deliver the spine-tingling experience fans are craving.
In the trailer, available on YouTube, we meet Hinako Shimizu, whose life spirals into chaos when her quaint hometown, Ebisugaoka, is engulfed by a mysterious fog. This fog twists landscapes into something out of a nightmare and unleashes grotesque creatures beyond anyone’s worst fears.
While details on the gameplay remain sparse, we do catch a glimpse of Hinako wielding a pipe, suggesting players might expect some intense confrontations with these otherworldly fiends. Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s Japan, where it promises to tackle some heavy and possibly discomforting themes.
The game’s store page includes a thought-provoking disclaimer: “These depictions do not reflect the opinions or values of the developers or any individuals involved. If you feel uncomfortable at any point while playing, please take a break or talk to someone you trust.”
Silent Hill f is being crafted by the talented team at NeoBards, who have provided support on numerous titles from Capcom and Square Enix, such as Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. They’re clearly in good company, with Konami’s own support team offering assistance, along with the legendary composer Akira Yamaoka returning to shape the game’s atmospheric soundtrack.
In a particularly intriguing twist, the Xbox store page reveals more than anticipated, confirming a PC version alongside Xbox Series X|S, as well as the convenience of Xbox Cloud Saves support.
This bodes well for Xbox Play Anywhere compatibility, allowing players to purchase once and enjoy the game on Xbox consoles or the Xbox PC app without any additional cost. It’s a feature we frequently see in first-party titles and a handful of third-party games on Xbox Game Pass, but it’s always refreshing to see it extended.
On Thursday, Microsoft’s VP of next-generation gaming, Jason Ronald, updated us on the Xbox Play Anywhere program, proudly announcing over 1,000 games now support this nifty feature.
Silent Hill remains a hallmark in survival horror history, and the prospect of Silent Hill f reviving the series’ eerie allure is truly thrilling. The reveal trailer has certainly set a promising stage. While I don’t expect the game will hit shelves in 2025—Konami likely would have made it official—2026 might be a more realistic target.
With the successful relaunch of Silent Hill 2 last year and the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater arriving this August, Konami’s game lineup is as robust as it’s been in years.
Silent Hill f will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox PC app), and PlayStation 5. Here’s hoping for a masterpiece that sends chills down our spines.
