According to a recent report from IGN, there’s some buzz around the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in North America, though nothing official has been announced by Nintendo regarding a rescheduled date. The report points to the FAQs on Nintendo’s pre-order page, which mention that the first round of invitation emails for their pre-order program is slated for May 8th. Interestingly enough, that date has been listed since the page’s debut on April 2nd, which was a couple of days before any delay news came out. We did a little digging and confirmed this through a Wayback Machine snapshot of the page from its initial launch.
Originally, the start of Switch 2 pre-orders hit a snag because of tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on various countries, which would have heavily affected the shipment of Switch 2 units to the U.S. Fortunately, many of these tariffs have seen a substantial reduction after a 90-day pause. Even so, Nintendo has yet to provide any updates on when North American fans can expect to place their pre-orders.
