It seems that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has just rolled out what could be its last major patch update, based on the latest notes. EA recently disclosed that the game hit 1.5 million players, which is half of what they had hoped for. Consequently, the publisher has decided to wind down post-launch support merely three months after release.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Update 5 Patch Notes
Bioware set the stage for the Update 5 patch notes by mentioning that they would now shift their focus to addressing critical bugs and problems, which has led many to speculate this might be the final major update.
The patch notes themselves say, “We were thrilled with the game’s stability at launch and hope you appreciated our Quality of Life patches since then. With the game now stable, we are moving to a monitoring phase to address any game-breaking issues should they arise.”
This definitely has the ring of finality to it, even if Bioware stopped short of making such a declaration.
Here’s a breakdown of what the update entails:
Quality of Life Changes:
- Side quests now have recommended levels, helping players assess them better if encountered at much lower levels.
Bug Fixes:
- Rook had a little trouble flirting with Lucanis, but that’s been smoothed out.
- The “Regrets of The Dread Wolf” quest had some trigger issues and an annoying invisible wall blockade for Rook in the Crossroads—both are now resolved.
- A puzzle in the Converged City area of the Crossroads had a blocking issue that’s been fixed.
- The “Imperium’s Resolve” armor was behaving oddly, causing negative damage. It’s now set to the intended zero fire, cold, necrotic, and electric damage.
- Taash’s armor, “Rivain’s Legacy,” had excessive clipping, which has been tidied up.
- Some Rooks were having trouble altering the runes on their lyrium daggers, but that’s been taken care of.
- The Medium Armor Mastery skill for Warriors had issues—we’ve patched it up.
- One of Rivain’s beaches had Rook repeatedly stuck in a drowning cycle, unable to be saved. Your companions have finally managed a rescue.
- A little typo on a Dock Town note caught our eye and has been corrected.
- HDR caused photo mode screenshots to degrade noticeably; that’s now fixed, along with the visibility of screenshot locations onscreen.
- Those fireflies flickering wildly in the opening area of the Crossroads? No longer a problem with specific settings.
- A lighting snag during one of the team’s conversations in the Lighthouse has been fixed.
- The Mirror of Transformation had a restriction on zoom, but now you can scroll in and out smoothly with your mouse.
- Changes were also made to ensure the Objective Marker Visibility updates align with the exploration preset settings.
- And lastly, there were some tweaks to the game credits.
With this packed update, Dragon Age: The Veilguard seems to be entering a new chapter where future interventions focus primarily on keeping everything running smoothly. Whether this is truly the last significant update remains to be seen, but fans can take comfort in knowing the game should continue to provide a stable and enjoyable experience.
