Sony recently unveiled plans for a PS5 remaster of Days Gone, but there’s a little hiccup for those who snagged it through PS Plus.
You might recall that at some point, Days Gone was one of the free titles offered via PS Plus. Sony dishes out free games every month, so it can be hard to track exactly when it was available. Naturally, if you managed to add it to your collection back then, you probably welcomed the news about the PS5 remaster. For folks who own the PS4 version, the upgrade is a mere $10. Sounds great, right? Well, here’s the catch: this upgrade deal is only for those who purchased the game outright—whether that’s a physical or digital copy. Unfortunately, if you got it through PS Plus, you’re out of luck.
This detail was tucked away in the fine print of a Bend Studio post. The message spelled out the $10 upgrade process but clarified this doesn’t apply to PS4 versions redeemed through PlayStation Plus. It seems a bit counterintuitive, especially since many players might have been willing to pay ten bucks for improved features. Could it be that Sony believes they’d cash in more by selling the full remaster instead?
For a bit of background, Days Gone first hit the PS4 scene back in 2019. Reviews were pretty mixed, yet it seemed to do well in terms of sales. A sequel never saw the light of day, and just last year, Bend Studio confirmed that one isn’t on the horizon. Fast forward to 2022, and there was talk of a movie adaptation. But with scarce updates on that front, this remaster might just be the last big event for the game.
Mark your calendars: Days Gone Remastered will be available on April 25 for PS5 and PC.
