Warner Bros appears to have pulled the plug on a new expansion for Hogwarts Legacy, according to recent reports. Bloomberg revealed that this expansion was supposed to debut with a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG, which would have introduced additional storylines to eager fans.
However, insiders suggest that Warner Bros decided to shelve the project due to concerns that the content wouldn’t justify the price they were considering for it. This expansion had been in the works at Avalanche Software, the original creators of the game, in collaboration with Rocksteady. Avalanche is also rumored to be busy crafting a sequel to the popular Hogwarts Legacy.
On another note, Rocksteady has faced some challenges recently, including layoffs following its decision to cease future support for Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, slated for 2024.
It’s worth noting that Warner Bros acknowledges a rough patch with their gaming division, admitting last year that it hasn’t been performing as expected. In fact, they took a significant hit by writing off $200 million related to Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. To add to the turbulence, Warner Bros recently shuttered three of its studios, including Monolith, and saw the departure of its long-time executive, David Haddad.
