Asian triple-A outsourcing giant, Winking Studios, has recently acquired China’s Mineloader, propelling itself further into the game development sphere. The transaction comes in at a total of £16.3 million, which translates to approximately $19.87 million. This figure includes an initial upfront payment of $14.7 million, with the balance set to be paid over the next five years, contingent upon Mineloader meeting specific performance goals.
Founded in 2003, Mineloader has built a solid reputation as an art outsourcing developer. Commenting on this significant development, Johnny Jan, the CEO and founder of Winking Studios, expressed, “This is the largest acquisition we’ve made so far, representing a transformative step that strengthens our hold on the global video games industry. It opens up exciting new avenues for growth and creative innovation.”
He went on to emphasize the importance of game art in the gaming industry’s development process, highlighting how it forms the visual backbone that captivates players and significantly influences their gaming experiences. With a proven track record and deep specialization in game art production, the addition of Mineloader’s team, which consists of more than 460 talented individuals, is expected to enhance Winking Studios’ capabilities significantly. This brings their workforce to over 800, reinforcing their offerings and expanding their client base. Furthermore, Mineloader’s strong experience and foothold in the Japanese market add considerable value to Winking Studios’ global business network.
